David Goldblatt
The elephant was sculpted by Louis Gay for the inauguration of the Olifantshoek High School in 1974. Subsequently, in accordance with a decision of the Town Council, a garden was created alongside the main road, and the elephant was mounted within it, to stand there as a symbol of the town.
