It is striking the way he has placed that image of
Fuji on the page with such seeming sculpted block-like
permanence. It sits there unmoving, silent.
You fail to immediately notice the narrow white
strip that rests along the base of the printed image
from which the title of the print is derived, ONE
STRAIGHT LINE ALONG THE FOOT OF MT FUJI.
You can't help wondering about this peculiarly portrayed
straight line along the foot of the mountain. If it is a road,
the question comes to mind:
Where did it come from & where will the journey end?
